Brass lights by jkwallick.com was started in the fall of 2005 by Deb and Jim Wallick. It was a natural next step for us. We started out 30 years ago buying and selling antiques in Lancaster County, Pa flea markets and then opening a stand in an antique co-op. We specialized in selling restored wood furniture, glass, and china. We soon realized the enjoyment in restoring the old furniture and opened our own furniture restoration business. This service included the cleaning, polishing, and recoating of the brass hardware. A trade we learned from a man that had been restoring and polishing brass for over 15 yrs.

After his retirement a little over twenty years ago we added restoring brass and brass polishing to our services. There was a high demand in our area for this and not many companies were able or willing to work on smaller jobs. Since that time we have had jobs as small as polishing the ring out of a bull’s nose to as large as restoring the entire brass contents of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the second oldest parish in Pennsylvania. We have restored the brass railroad lights for the historical Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, Pa. as well as lights for numerous colleges in the area, including Franklin and Marshall College and various antiques dealers, along with hotels and motels in the area, such as the Eden Resort Inn.

The next logical step was to start designing our own lights. With our background in restoring antique lighting many of our designs reflect the years gone by. Each of our lights are made of solid brass, no plated or painted parts are used. The importance of this is years down the road the brass will tarnish no matter what finishes are put on the brass. Solid brass can be cleaned and polished again and again and again. Plated and painted parts cannot! We make each and every light for each order, we do not stack them in a warehouse waiting for someone to buy them, so let our family build a solid brass light for you!
